Enrichment

At Dixons Kings Academy, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our enrichment programme gives every student in Years 7 to 11 the opportunity to explore new interests, develop talents, and build skills that will serve them for life.

Student and staff voice

Each year, we run a joint staff and student voice session to shape our enrichment offer. Staff share the clubs they can run, while students tell us what they’d like to see. This collaborative approach ensures our programme reflects the passions and interests of our community.

After school clubs

Clubs run after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, giving students plenty of choice and flexibility.

This year’s offer includes:

  • Mathletics: sharpen problem-solving skills in a fun, competitive way
  • Baking: learn practical kitchen skills and creative recipes
  • Drama: build confidence and performance skills on stage
  • Chess: develop strategy, patience, and critical thinking
  • Robotics: design, build, and test exciting creations
  • Science club: hands-on experiments and discovery beyond the curriculum
  • Boys’ football: teamwork, fitness, and competition
  • Rowing: train on our brand-new rowing machines
  • Needlework: develop sewing skills and creativity
  • Drumming: rhythm, performance, and collaboration
  • Art Club:explore new techniques and styles
  • Gardening:connect with nature and grow something new

Why enrichment matters

Our enrichment programme helps students:

  • Discover and nurture new talents
  • Build resilience, confidence, and leadership skills
  • Work with peers across year groups
  • Experience a well-rounded education that prepares them for future success

At Dixons Kings Academy, enrichment is not an add-on, it’s a vital part of helping our students thrive.
